Astypalaia, an island full of castles, caves and archeological sites, is an ideal destination for those who are interested in history and wish to acquire more knowledge. The Venetian Castle, the Dragon’s Cave as well as some churches stand haughtily through the passing of time. There is also an Archaeological Museum in Astypalaia with important exhibits. Of course the island does not only have history but also amazing beaches with pebbles and crystal clear waters for swimming and sunbathing. Some of them are organized whereas some others are more distant and accessible only by boat.
At the seaside settlements of the island you can find some hotels and many rental rooms that during the summer months are full, since the island is packed with tourists that travel either by boat from Piraeus or by plane from Athens and Rhodes to spend beautiful and memorable holidays in Astypalaia. The small Dodecanese island has many restaurants and taverns, that serve local dishes and live music for savoury and pleasant evenings. Moreover there are also some bars and clubs for more intense nights.
