There are shops with carpets, furniture, fabrics, clothes, toys, antics and anything you can think of. It is so big that you will definitely loose your way through its countless corridors. Even if you get lost do not worry, you can sit in one of the traditional coffee places with the small tables and chairs, drink a cup of coffee or tea and continue with your shopping.
Another well known market is Misir Carsisi which is the spice market or else called Egyptian Market which is full of herbs and spices and also many other products.
You can also find many open markets and bazaars in Istanbul where you can buy numerous things, clothes as well as edibles.
Istanbul has many small and large bazaars, districts with many shops and kiosks in the streets, and many likeable and friendly salesmen and shop owners. Do not forget though a very old tradition that is still alive in our days, the bargain for the price. Feel free to negotiate the price you are willing to pay. The bargaining is part of the everyday habits of Turkish people and they actually enjoy it.
Of course if you wish to shop in European shops you can visit the pedestrian street Istiklal or Independence Avenue that is packed with shops with clothes and shoes as well as restaurants and cafeterias.
During your strolls in the bazaars and the markets do not hesitate to try some of the traditional sweets sold in the streets or even drink a fresh fruit juice to satisfy your thirst.
